    Dear April,

Although I was only privileged to know you a little bit for the latter part of my life, you made an impression, as i suspect you made an impression anywhere you went in your too short life. Your smile always lit up the world wherever you were. And whenever we met at various family gatherings and barbeques you were always so very full of life. Which is why this is so… unbelievable.

The relationship you had with your mother was so strong and supportive it was inspiring. You added a dimension of warmth to my brother’s life as his treasured daughter. And it’s always great to see siblings who genuinely like each other, as you and your brothers did.

Although I’m old enough to be your aunt, our kids are of an age, and so I knew you most as a fellow Mom. Your most important legacy is the two wonderful kids you leave behind. Although the rest of us will try to be there for them, especially your parents and your brothers, I’m sure the love that your children will always carry in their hearts for you will best help them navigate their future lives. I can easily imagine you as their guardian angel.

We will all miss your sunshine, dear niece.
